Parks and trails are great recreation assets, but we often overlook creative ways to make them even more impactful public spaces.
Join Vermont & neighboring placemakers for our September monthly meet-up to learn how communities are co-designing parks with residents, experimenting with outdoor accessibility, and building recreation sites that are critical gathering places, improve local economies, and boost livability. We'll spend an hour sharing placemaking ideas and examples, hearing about two inspiring local projects, and getting to know fellow placemakers.
Got a great rec placemaking example to share? Drop a message or comment with a pic and we'd love to feature it!

MEET-UP resources page: Coming soon
Community Workshop and AARP Vermont are hosting free, monthly Placemaking Meet-Ups for anyone working on placemaking or interested in getting started. Each month will feature a different theme, and will be a chance to explore placemaking examples, resources and tools. These meet-ups are a place to share knowledge, problem solve together, get inspired by the work happening across the state, and walk away with actionable projects and ideas.
Placemaking is about strengthening the connection between people and the places. It's about reinventing and re-engaging with public spaces so they are once again the hub of public life.
Please share with us any projects you’ve been working on that incorporate this month's theme. We would love to showcase them during our meet-up. Send a picture and short description to Kelly at kstoddardpoor [@] aarp.org.
Meet-ups are free and open to the public and will be held on Zoom. Future calls will feature different themes, and will be held (usually) on the last Friday of the month.
